Art in Nature: The nature of Art Festival takes place along the Stream Trail of Redwood Regional Park, 7867 Redwood Road, Oakland Hills.
The festival itself starts at the ‘Canyon Meadow Staging Area’ and extends along the Stream Trail, a one mile paved and nearly level path of art and nature immersion to ‘Trails End’.
The festival begins at ‘Canyon Meadow Staging Area’, accessed from the Redwood Gate entrance, 2 miles east and downhill from the Redwood Road/ Skyline blvd. intersection. It extends along the Stream Trail, a one mile paved and nearly level path of art and nature immersion to ‘Trails End’.
The site at Redwood Regional Park can be accessed by car but parking ($5) is limited and will fill up early Sunday morning. So begin your journey with the shuttle instead!
For that reason this year there will be a shuttle bus (called Trans-former) running throughout the day from nearby Merritt College. Park there and begin your adventure early with an entertaining ten minute ride to the entrance of the festival. While we are planning to have enough capacity to handle the expected crowd, capacity is limited so we highly recommend to buy your shuttle ticket now!
Shuttle tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children under 12, the day of the festival and can be purchased at the Merritt College bus stop.
Ticket sales will be limited so as to not over extend the shuttle system’s capacity, so buy your shuttle tickets now and reserve seats for you, your family and friends.
While no admission to the festival is charged, there are substantial costs to running a shuttle bus, a required element in this year’s event. Ticket prices have been priced as affordable as we can manage to still have it offset in part the fixed costs of the festival. Please remember this is a not for profit event and is only made possible by the hundreds of hours donated by our organization, participating artists, and crew.

Purchase Shuttle Tickets in Advance: BUY IT NOW!
Please reserve your seat early. The more we can measure demand, the more buses we can afford to run the day of the event. While tickets will be available the day of the event, we cannot guarantee that we won’t sell out. Sales are being limited so that we have sufficient capacity to bring everyone back to their cars at the end of the event in a timely manner.
Public Transit: The shuttle will also allow people to attend the Festival by BART and bus. AC Transit’s Line #54 runs from the Fruitvale Bart Station to the Campus every half hour on Sundays. Check 511.org for more info.
Parking at the Festival Site: The park’s entrance road will close once parking is full except for shuttle buses and vehicles with a disabled placard for dropoff. Parking spots will turn over during the day but only on a limited basis. There will be no parking allowed along Redwood Road that day outside of the park entrance. There will be a dropoff zone at the Redwood Gate entrance from which there is a ~½ mile walk in to the beginning of the festival.
Hiking to the Festival: There is limited additional parking nearby up Redwood Road at the Macdonald Gate and Big Bear Staging Areas. A 1 ½ mile hike along the Golden Spike Trail will connect you to the Festival. For the more ambitious, several other trailheads along Skyline Boulevard link to the site. From the Skyline Gate a ~2 ½ mile, ~600 foot descent along the Stream Trail takes you to the Trails End part of the 1 mile Festival trail. Multiple other hiking possibilities abound. Check the Redwood Regional Park website for more info and a trail map http://ebparks.org/parks/redwood.
Biking to the Festival: Cyclists familiar with the narrow and steep sections of Redwood and Pinehurst Road won’t have to concern themselves about parking either.
From Highway 13 north, exit Redwood Road, turn left onto Mountain Blvd and then right on Redwood Road and follow directions above.
From Highway 580, exit at 35th Ave and go east, towards the hills. 35th Ave will turn into Redwood Road by the time it crosses over 13.
From Moraga, take Canyon Road to Pinehurst Road.
From Castro Valley, take Redwood Road.
